New Year, New hair!

As New Year's eve has approached, I have come across countless blogs and videos of Natural haired ladies doing challenges for the new year. Whether it's growing out your hair, taking better care of your hair everyone has a goal to start off the new year.
So I decided that I might as well jump on the big ole bandwagon and make my own challenge...well I guess I have been on a challenge for the last year or two since I started a heathy hair journey out of nowhere an stuck to it. So I can't say this is some kind of new challenge but it will be nice to have a goal.
So here are my new years goals for hair.
1. Continue to keep up trims every two months
2.Stay on top of getting my hair products, don't run all the way out before purchasing more
3. Flat iron hair LESS, I've been doing every two weeks, try to make it three
4. Grow hair to either SL or BSL by the summer before I go to Texas:)
And one for the body
5. Work out more!, I know there will be times when I don't work out or can't work out but try to get to the gym every week to work out.

So there are my goals, my goals that I hope I can accomplish. I'll check in every once in a while and document lol...my progress.

Rambling, hair update

So it's been a long boring snowy weekend. I've been trying to keep myself busy from going crazy. It gets dark at 4:30 which has always had the most depresseing impact on me. I HATE when it gets dark early,I feel like my day is over before it even starts, ughhhhhhh. So between watching Inglourious Basterds and cleaning my house spotless, I have'nt really thought much about my hair, which I guess is a good thing. Too much time on hair can drive a person crazy.

Anywho, my hair was straight for a little more than a week and when I washed two days ago, I barely had any shed hairs, which was fantastic. I detangled carefeully and it honeslty only took my maybe 20 minutes to detangle when it usually take me a lot longer and last time I washed my hair was so tangled and so much hair came out it took an hour. It was horrific. I told myself I didn't ever want to see my hair like that again so I guess I got my wish. I plan to straighten again soon this time using the chase method which worked fantatsic the first timem and hopefully smooth sailing fron then on...hopefully.

The Chase Method. Oh yeah.

So for months now I've had this problem with the back of my hair. The hair that suffered the most damage from seemed to never get straight whenever I flat ironed. Every time I flat iron, I run my hands through silky hair until I reach the back and it's just frizzled to pieces. I pretty much lost all hope, I've been keeping up trims but that stubborn area just never seemed to work out. So I gave myself a few months to nurse my damaged hair back to health and if nothing worked than I would have to cut it.
So I finally flat ironed and got the same old awful results and was all depressed until I came across a youtube video of this girl flat ironing her natural hair and DING!!!!!!!, she had the solution to my problem. She talked about certain naturals who were having problems with the ends of their hair and the solution was to run a comb through as you flat iron to smooth the hair out otherwise known as the "Chase Method" So here I am thinking well I will give it a try but I doubt it will work. So I ran into the bathroom, grabbed my iron and...IT WORKED!!!!. I grabbed a fine tooth comb and placed it in front of my iron and slowly went down, each section and I was amazed at the results. My ends, my horrible, awful ends!!! were finally straight, silky and soft and I was obsessed with my hair all night.  I couldn't keep my hands out of my hair. It just amazed me to touch my hair and not feel that damaged feeling. This is the first time I've been pleased in a long time with my hair. I am also so relived it wasn't damaged or split ends, just needed to use a comb to smooth that area out more. I checked my ends after I was finished and they were..well are lol fabulous!. So hooray for me!! I have found a new method for my hair!! Yay!!! now off to bed it's late and I'm about to pass out!

Curlmart haul ! Jessicurl, Oyin and Darcy's Botanicals

So after a long period of much needed hair products I caved in and went broke, but I'm happy so that's all that counts. Ha. Ha.

So first up is Jessicurl Weekly Deep conditioning Treatment. So I have only used this twice. The first time I used it I can't say I loved it, The scent is Lavender Citrus but it smells nothing like it, it smells very woody and a hint of Cocoa butter smell more than anything. It's quite thick which I like, nothing like a rich and thick deep conditioner. The ingredients are...

Water infused with Lemongrass, Nettle, Burdock, Kelp, Marshmallow Root, Horsetail, Basil, Bay Leaf, Oregano, Rosemary, Peppermint, Sage and Thyme, Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Cetearyl Alcohol, Shea Butter, Avocado Oil,Cocoa Butter, Lecithin, Aloe Vera Powder, Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance

Which all sound wonderful lol. The second time I used it I fell in love. I don't have to use a lot for it to really soak up my hair and I have very thick hair. After washing and conditioning/detangling my hair I slathered this on and it felt like butter and made my hair feel the the same. It also seem to make my curls curlier?...which is kinda weird but great I guess lol. So would I buy this again? yeppers. I paid $12.75, I believe but recently looking on Curlmart it now is priced at 16.95 which is madness!, but if it's good I'll stick with it. At least for a little while :).

Next up is Oyin. I don't have much to say since I've already used them before, only this time I bought a much bigger Whipped pudding since I ran out so quickly. I love love love the smell as always.

Lastly, the Darcy's Botanicals Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme. I have only used this once on my hair and once on my grandmothers hair. It made her hair super soft and shiny but as for me it was quite heavy, probably due to me adding in some Burnt Sugar which I now know not to do next time. The Smell I honestly don't care for. It faintly smells like Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough Ice cream, the Vanilla is what is smells like but not as good lol. I will keep using this creme although I'm not to big on the smell and it seems like every since I became Natural I care a lot about the smell of products  and I dig sweet smells not weird sweetish smells lol. So overall I will have to use this product way more than once to do an actual review on it and and decide if I want to repurchase.
I paid $12.00 and the
Ingredients are,

Organic Palm Oil, Organic Aloe Vera, Organic Madagascar Vanilla, Vegetable Emulsifying Wax, Candelilla Wax, Organic Castor Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil and Potassium Sorbate.

My hair and the weather!

Basically my style, afro puffs which flatten after sleeping on them. I need to invest in a satin pilowcase.

So this is my hair, that I recently washed. Using Aussie moist Shampoo, Tresseme Naturals conditioner and I deep conditioned with Jessicurl weekly deep treatment...or something like that lol and then I finished off with Infusium23 Moisturologie and Oyin Burnt sugar Pomade. It's been about three weeks? since I have flat ironed so I'm trying to go even longer without straightening, but since these SSK are really pissing me off I might just have to flat iron as a protective style. Seems weird right? I've been debating for days now on what I should do this winter, I guess I'll just leave my hair alone until I figure it out. I've been really trying to keep up though on Deep Conditioning more and really paying attention to my ends. So hopefully it will pay off in the ends and my hair will eventually grow even...hopefully.

As you can see the weather is beautiful!!! I say that with Sarcasm. I mean..it's beautiful but I hate so yeah lol.

What a night, more rambling.

I didn't get any sleep last night. Literally, I crawled into bed around 3am and attempted to fall asleep to the movie Carpool. Yeah didn't happen. I sat up and read a childhood book that I loved, a book full of like 40 stories while getting head butt by my cat. I tried to fall asleep after that but those few minutes of trying turned into hours. 5 am, 6 am, 7 am all passed and I laid awake tossing and turning. At the foot of my bed to the top and out of nowhere my back started to ache. Hours went by and I would close my eyes and fall asleep for about ten minutes and awake. So you can imagine how pissed I was when noon rolled around and I laid there with my eyes burning, dark circles like there was no tomorrow.
So I've been exhausted all day, my back is in pain and my side hurts. You know that pain you get when you run too long? yeah that side pain. Don't know where all this body pain came from?, I can definitely do without. It's now 12:50 am and I'm sitting at this computer eating Praline Pecans and half watching some ballet on TV. Yeah great night huh? I'm hoping that I can sleep tonight. I wanted to take a shower to help ease the back pain and use this  aromatherapy Lavender Chamomile scrub I got from Bath and Body works but I feel to tired to even do that. So I plan on just heading to bed, do a little writing to flush out my thoughts for the day, so I don't lay bed thinking all night long, perhaps put on a good 90s holiday movie and read until I am absolutely tired. One of my biggest problems is going to bed when I'm not that tired, I tend to sleep bad. UGH!!! sleep!! why does it have to be so complicated sometimes?!.
Any who...tomorrow is a new day, I hope to get some work out time in around 1pm so wish me good wishes that I sleep tonight. I can't imagine working out exhausted and trying to get motivated by Lady gaga.
