Update ha!

So it dawned on me that I haven't blogged in forever. Here I am at almost 2am downloading Elton John and The Strokes onto my itunes feeling quite crappy and I have an urge to blog.

I don't have much to say though, considering the whole point of me having this blog was to talk about hair and I honestly have nothing to say about my hair. It's been straight since  March 26th and only washed twice. I've been wearing half up, half down and that's pretty much all there is. I don't know when is the next time I will be able to wash it. I desperately need to wash it though, I've been working out hard and the sweat is killing me. My week is filled with millions of things. My birthday is coming up and I plan on doing nothing but a long overdue urge to go to a baseball game with my friend might just happen on that day. Go Twins! and Joe Mauer!, I know nothing about Baseball and HATED it and I mean HATED it in school, but a few months back at the place where I did my taxes which was a library to be more specific they showcased African Americans in Baseball for Black history month and I suddenly realized I had never been to a ball game and really wanted to go for a long time due to my love for one of the best movies ever, The Sandlot, so I txt my friend and she said well lets make it happen so finally we set a date and it just so happens to fall on my birthday.
So anywho I have a trip that I need to prepare for in June/July to Texas as I have mentioned before. I got out my to do lists and calculating my plan to save before then. So that is all really that I have been doing. Right now I'm obsessed with The Strokes like I somewhat mentioned above and The Black Keys. So between listening to them and getting my rock on I've been going slightly crazy. So hopefully the next time I write it will be about hair. Now off to my music and then bed.

Hair update

Ahh, another hair update. So where do I begin. Firstly it's been a month since I have flat ironed my hair!!! yay!!! hooray for meee! lol. I didn't think i would go that long but the weather has been janky so I can't do much with  my hair. One of my goals was to try and go the whole winter without flat ironing but I knew that would happen so I decided to go longer than I usually do between Flat iron...sessions?. I washed my hair around the end of January and had been wearing my hat and only flat ironing my bangs, I eventually got sick of that because going to work and cleaning with make my bangs puff up so I said screw it and I gave up on flat ironing my bangs. So for the last couple of weeks no flat iron has touched my head, and before I knew it, it's March 5th and I'm still curly haha. I know I will probably flat iron in the next couple of weeks because I am sick of being curly lol. It's just been nice to give my hair a break from all the styling tools.
Anyway, I should get going, as I type I have deep conditioner in my hair that needs to be washed out and I need to workout today haha.

Update!, A decent Twist out?

So it's been quite some time since the last time I blogged. Life has been pretty hectic and today is my day off so ahhhhh what better time to write about hair?. So last week, I sat down in the middle of watching my beloved Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and began twisting my hair. I've been having problems with shed hairs and my hair shedding. Dead hair is having a hard time making it's way down my hair and gets stuck in the middle and tangles around my other hair, which is super annoying. So to get rid of the problem I obsessively run my fingers through my hair removing it and before I knew it I was twisting my hair into two strand twists. the twist were quite small and I did it on dry hair. I also trimmed my ends after I twisted and then put Oyin Burnt Sugar Pomade on my ends

This is after I'm done twisting. I then put my hair in two pigtails and then left them in overnight

Decent right? lol. It's not perfect but considering I can't do anything to my hair right I was happy.
I realized why Twist outs never worked before on me. I would do them on my hair and wet my hair, so basically my hair would be wet and shrink up overnight. They never turned out right. So doing it on dry hair and only damp on the ends so they'd curl really helped give me length.

So after that first night and liking my results, two days later I re twisted my hair this time. At 12:30am and through and episode of Hawthorne and The Tudors it took me two hours to finish. I twisted really small two strand twist outs with damp ends  all over my head. Using Oyin Whipped Pudding on my ends and middle of my hair. Avoiding putting it on my scalp because I already need to wash my hair I don't need more buildup.

So here are the results.

I slapped a flower in to take bootleg wannabe ANTM pics in my bathroom. This last pic is just half up half down. So all  I have to say is, I really like the results which is something that is rare when it comes to the hair growing out of my confused head. Twisting really small twists on dry hair and using a heavy cream for moisturizing is now something I need to master lol.

My hair for the last two weeks has basically been natural. Since it's winter and thank goodness the snow is melting today I have been wearing a hat every time I go out only wearing my bangs straight and leaving the rest curly. I washed and deep conditioned my hair about two weeks ago, So I'm due for a washing which I will do as soon as I am done typing.
Anyway I guess that is all for now, my hair is a disaster right now and needs some care. So until next time.

Update on life and Hair anniversary

So I should have written earlier to make it official but oh well lol.
So Jan 26th was yesterday which was about an hour and ten minutes ago and it has now been two years since my last relaxer. Yay! for me!. I can remember it like yesterday, making that decision to never relax my hair again and I am very proud of myself for not giving in to the creamy crack.
I've learned a lot in my two years of dealing with all things natural. I feel like I have really come far with this "hair thing" lol. I hope as the future plays out, I hope to achieve all my hair goals.

So as for my life. I lost my job a few days ago, I'm not unemployed, I was working for two companies and the one I lost was paying more so life pretty much sucks as of right now. Tomorrow I have to go to my job to see if I can get more clients, so I'm pretty nervous, as always I don't know why but I'm just a nervous person lol. So sorry if my hair anniversary section on top isn't all that great. I have so many things on my mind right now, that is all I can really think about. Also i've been somehow itching to go to Miami. Everything that I have watched in the past few days has somehow been in Miami. Real housewives of Atlanta, What Chili Wants and Basketball Wives? what on earth is going on?!. Anyway...lol.

So hopefully I have good news tomorrow and I can blog about some more hair related issues. I plan on blogging about how I detangle my hair. So stay tuned...whoever is reading this.

Update

So another update.
Hair: It's been a long couple of weeks, as the weeks went by I just didn't feel like doing anything to my hair. So I looked like a hot mess lol. I finally washed, Deep conditioned and trimmed my ends and I plan on doing nothing to my hair for the next couple of...well a while lol.

Skin: I've been keeping up with applying shea butter. Although I missed applying it twice a days for two days and only got to once which was a bummer, I'm back on track.

Body: As for my wanting to get in shape and work out, I missed the weekend but did 50 min the last time and then 50 min today. Since it's that" Time of the month" I don't see myself working out tomorrow but Thursday I should be good to go.
So overall, I think I'm doing alright. I just need to keep it up!

Lovely Skin Challenge!

So between obsessing over my hair and finding non low rise jeans( Don't ask) my obsession at the moment is skin. I cannot stop looking at skin. I'm absolutely obsessed with it and making mine look better. I'm constantly looking at everyones skin in movies in music videos it's kinda ridiculous.. So I decided, why not challenge myself to a skin challenge. Since it's winter I have plenty of time before the summer to get my skin on the right track.
My skin lately has been quite dry and every since I started working out I seem to be getting more stretch marks, yes MORE. I'm 21 never had any kids but I have them. I hate when people only think pregnant ladies get them lol. Any who you can say they annoy me, they annoy me a lot, so...I decided to do something about it, along with evening out my skin tone and overall having fab skin like Gabrielle above, who I believe has some of the most gorgeous skin Hollywood. I purchased some Shea butter, Raw unrefined Shea butter recently online from Sheaessentials.com and I received it today. I whipped it along with some coconut oil, my first time ever whipping it. The first time I used the butter, it was quite hard to use although not as hard as raw cocoa butter but not as soft as...a baby's butt?
Anyway you can say it kind discouraged me from using it like I should have been, since I found it challenging to slather on twice everyday.
So I whipped it up today with a mixer and now I have a creamalicious batch of shea butter.
So this time I decided to do it right.
Everyday I rub on some Shea butter, twice daily, drink plenty of water which I already do and take vitamins which I already do and see where that gets me.
Hopefully when summer comes I will want to run outside naked and show off my skin:).

Wanting to go back to Relaxed?

Being a natural girl, I have those days just like any of girl with natural hair especially those who were relaxed for a long time and recently went natural, where you just think to yourself " What If I relax my hair?". Honestly straight hair is everywhere. I do see natural haired women on TV commercials or in magazines or even in music videos but it's almost always never as much as those with straight hair.
Just a few days ago I was flat ironing and my hair was driving me crazy. I felt like it just would not straighten right. After having great results with the Chase method a few days before I expected to get those results but it didn't happen. My hair was still better than it was before but my ends still seemed to be puffy. You can say it was frustrating. Afterwards I go and read my Allure issue for the month and I see model Emanuela de paula with her gorgeous straight hair and then it seemed through out the day Black women with gorgeous flowing locks of straight hair were all in my face constantly. Zoe Saldana, Sanaa Lathan in Something New, Tyra Banks. I started looking at my own hair, my puffy ends getting irritated and thinking how if I had a relaxer my ends would always be straight and how straight my hair would be since I've become so "good" at flat ironing I wouldn't have a problem. All I wanted in that moment was straight hair. I didn't think about it much as the day went on, until night when I visited natural hair blog MopTopMaven.com and I cam across these pictures from a site calles F*ck Yeah Curls Curls Curls. Seeing all these ladies and gents with beautiful free flowing heads of big curly, kinky and coily hair had me going crazy. It instantly reminded me of why I could never go back to a relaxer. So I say in your moments of natural weakness the best thing you can do is look at pictures of fellow naturals to give you inspiration, it always work for me. I snapped out of the relaxing thoughts right away and had the nerve to go wash  my curls back into my head...but that would  have been a waste of straightening so NEXT TIME!! lol.
