Once again I come to this blog during the late hours to talk hair...well write I guess.
Anyway I thought I'd share my detangling and Trimming Regimen.
Detangling
Firstly. I try to make detangling my hair the easiest, smoothest ride possible. When I first started out transitioning I would wash my hair, dry and then get out of the shower and try to detangle the mess I called hair on top of my head. Boy oh boy have I come a long way lol. Countless ripped out hairs I don't know why I didn't think to do it in the shower???.
I'm constantly trying to make my detangling session quick and easy and have really only found one way that works best for me. Or two.
1. I get into the shower as a whole. Meaning I plan on getting wet.
2. I part my hair in two sections.
3. I shampoo each section of hair and then rinse.
4. I then apply my conditioner and then with my wide tooth comb I detangle each section.
5. If I don't use my conditioner as a deep conditioner I rinse out as soon as it's detangled under running water RUNNING WATER ALWAYS!! it is truly remarkable how easy it is for me to detangle under running water. Makes everything a breeze.
That is pretty much it.
My second routine would be for when I don't plan on taking a shower. I pretty much do everything the same except I apply the conditioner and then put at least 6 ponytails each on the side of my head and detangle each section. It does take longer to do but I can settle for time over ripped out hair.
This is my hair this morning after rinsing out my conditioner. I ended up washing my hair late last night and was too tired to rinse out the conditioner so I left it in over night and rinsed as soon as I woke up.
I applied Organix Coconut Milk Anti Breakage Serum as soon as I rinsed while still in the shower and then apple Oyin Whipped Pudding to my edges. Tied down with a scarf for smooth edges and went about my day.
Trimming
So It's been a while since I trimmed my ends. I try to do it every two months and so far have kept up that routine since last July.
I let my hair dry throughout the day, since I knew I would be twisting and and attempting to rock a twist out tomorrow. Doesn't really work on damp or wet hair.
So First I got my shears (Shown Above)
My wide tooth comb which I used to detangle before I twisted.
I used Burnt Sugar to moisturize my hair. After Detangling, I began to twist using a little bit of Burnt Sugar from the middle of my hair down. I don't really like to add much to the scalp. I then trimmed off maybe less of an inch of my ends and then sealed them with the Burnt Sugar.
My ends lol.
And done :). It took me a long time to do the twists. They are pretty skinny which always takes more time and I was watching TV and taking a break every here and now. Overall I started a little before 7pm and finished around 10:45 pm. So I hope it turns out good tomorrow. If not who cares I aint going nowhere lol.
Now I'm off. Time for sleepytime ha.
